I think if people understood the health implications of eating more or mostly raw vegetables, nuts, sprouted grains and beans from organic sources, there would be a stampede in this direction. But since many people and are health care system are not effectively informed, our society spends many billions of dollars on needless drugs and other "treatments" for sick people that are often ill as a consequence of their diet. The latter is controlled through 1) advertising in all media 2) price and 3) availability of product produced by the large agri-business industrial chemical companies whose main motivating factor is shareholder value. Monsanto, for example, is a large chemical company whose main interest in the food business is to sell their chemical products (i.e. Round-Up), since they are the most profitable and, in a supporting role, is their Round-Up ready seed (all genetically modified for Round-Up resistance) with which they are attempting to control the world's food production. Have you wondered what the link was between the big pharmaceutical companies and agri-business? It is you and your health or, specifically, ensuring the lack thereof.
